Allow me to introduce myself. I am Rev. Dr. Bruce W. Burns Sr, the Senior Pastor of the Hopps Memorial CME Church in Syracuse, NY. I am officially offering myself as a candidate for the office of Bishop in the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. This role is not a title but a calling to further lead our Church toward a deeper relationship between the Kingdom, Regional, District, and Local Church and to be a beacon for Christ.
• I started my leadership skills while serving in the United States Air Force to which I was Honorably Discharged after serving in Desert Storm.
• I have served as a Senior Pastor for 39 years
• I have served 15 Pastoral charges in the Ohio-Central Indiana and Kentucky Regions of the 2nd, Central Georgia Region of the 6th, and the New York / Washington Region of the 7th.
• I have served on the Committee of Ministerial Examination Committee for over 24 years in all the Regions I’ve served.
• I have served as an assistant Annual Conference Secretary
• I have served on the Central Georgia Joint Board of Finance
• I have served in the World Methodist Council
• I have been a delegate to four General Conference
• I have served on the Communications & Information Technology Advisory Committee
• I have chaired the Committee on Conference Boundaries
I am committed to symbolizing integrity in all aspects of the church while staying true to God's word. Three guiding principles encapsulate my mission: Develop, Excite, and Ignite.
*Develop: To cultivate a practical understanding and deeper relationship with God, extending from all levels of the Church. Develop a Biblical understanding of Economics that will enhance those in Christ, the Church, District, Region, and Connectional Church
*Excite: To Inspire the people of God to share His Word, repair broken bridges, and restore relationships, fostering hope and renewal for the Church and the world.
*Ignite: Sparking a flame that ignites an individual's faith allows the CME Church to be an Ecumenical
